Kathleen L. Quirk

Kathleen L. Quirk is President and Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. Quirk is a respected leader whose career reflects not only strategic expertise, but a steadfast commitment to our collective goal of promoting the responsible production of copper. She has a strong focus on partnering with host communities, with the aim of providing long-lasting benefits for all stakeholders.

After working for a few years in tax accounting at Mobil Oil in Dallas, Texas, Quirk joined Freeport in 1989, taking on leadership roles across a broad range of corporate functions including Tax, Investor Relations, Corporate Development and Treasury. She was named Chief Financial Officer in 2003, earning repeated recognition as Best CFO in Metals and Mining by Extel (formerly Institutional Investor Research). She was named President of Freeport in 2021, became a member of the Board of Directors in 2023 and became Chief Executive Officer in 2024.

As a senior executive for over two decades, Quirk has been instrumental in guiding Freeport’s strategic direction and delivering on its goals. Equally important, she is a devoted advocate for Freeport’s over 70,000 workers around the world, their families and the communities where they live.

A champion of innovation, she has supported Freeport’s push to advance leaching technologies and implement new tools that improve efficiency, safety and sustainability across the company.

Quirk has been recognized as one of the mining industry’s most influential leaders, securing the fourth spot on the Mining Journal’s Top 50 Most Influential 2024 list. She was one of 12 women who made the 2024 list. She also received the Copper Club’s prestigious Ankh Award in 2024, which has been presented annually since 1962 to professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to the copper industry.

She is a member of The Business Council and Business Roundtable and also serves on Greater Phoenix Leadership and the Board of Directors of the Council of the Americas.

Quirk holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Vulcan Materials Company.
